About ZIP Encryption
Overview
ZIP Encryption is a feature used by the ZIP Encryption action of a policy.
When sending an email to which the ZIP Encryption action is applied, it encrypts the attachments into a password-protected ZIP file.
As needed, a password notification email that informs the recipient of the set password can be created automatically.
The encryption method is ZipCrypto.
The password notification email is not sent automatically, so review the content and send it if there are no issues.
When sending a meeting request email in the new Outlook or Outlook on the web, the password notification email window is not displayed and is saved to the Drafts folder.
Open the Drafts folder, review the content of the relevant email, and send it.
In classic Outlook, when sending a meeting request email, if "Insert recipients into the password notification email" is ON, the email sender is also inserted into the recipients.
In ZIP Encryption processing, when the email's format is Rich Text, any inline images inserted into the body are also treated as attachments and become targets of ZIP encryption.
The administrator can configure the password notification email template (subject and body) per language on the ZIP Encryption screen and distribute it to users.
Settings Required to Use ZIP Encryption
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Policy | Set ZIP Encryption as the policy action. Options such as automatic password generation and automatic creation of the password notification email are specified in the Options for the ZIP Encryption action. |
| Password notification email template | Set the subject and body used when automatically creating the password notification email, per language, on the ZIP Encryption screen. |
Enabling the setting for the administrator to manage the password notification email template prohibits changes in the User Outlook Add-in and allows distributing the content configured by the administrator.
